OPERATION SEA CHANGE
World Water Week 2025

Oceans Alive Conservation Trust & Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob Unite for Cleaner Rivers & Oceans
March 17–23, 2025, marks World Water Week, the annual global movement leading up to World Water Day on March 22, designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of freshwater and its sustainable management. This year’s theme, Water for Climate Action, highlights how protecting water resources is essential to solving the climate crisis. Without urgent action, pollution, overuse, and climate change will continue to threaten our rivers, oceans, and the future of our planet.

SpongeBob & The Fight Against Water Pollution
SpongeBob SquarePants may live in a pineapple under the sea, but even Bikini Bottom isn’t safe from pollution. Our rivers and oceans are becoming increasingly contaminated by plastic waste, harming marine life and ecosystems. If we want a thriving planet for future generations, we must act now.

That’s why Oceans Alive Conservation Trust, together with Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob, is launching a national awareness campaign for river and ocean cleanups. By inspiring children and communities to take responsibility for the environment, we can turn the tide on pollution and create a cleaner, healthier world.

Teaching Children to Be Guardians of the Earth
What we learn as children shapes the way we live as adults. Reaching kids is crucial—when they understand the importance of water conservation and plastic responsibility, they grow up with a deep respect for nature.
As future leaders, children have both a voice and a role in shaping the world. They must know that protecting the planet isn’t just an option—it’s a responsibility. Being an Earth steward means holding ourselves and others accountable for the health of our rivers, oceans, and wildlife.
World Water Week 2025: Take Action
This year’s Water for Climate Action theme reminds us that without clean water, we cannot tackle climate change. Water-related challenges, from glacier loss to ocean pollution, require urgent solutions. Now is the time to protect our water resources and create lasting change.
