Oceans Alive Conservation Trust have successfully trained over 40 Department of Labour certified Commercial Divers to-date. The Oceans Alive Conservation Trust - Maritime Training Academy focuses on community-based training programs for suitably qualified candidate students who are 18 years and older, currently unemployed, and are from previously disadvantaged, or impoverished backgrounds, to develop the necessary skills and self-upliftment to “Change the Lives” of the learners by qualifying them as registered Department of Labour Class IV and Class III Commercial Divers. The program consists of numerous Commercial Diving Skills Training Courses – Class IV Commercial Diving - Scuba and Class III Commercial Diving - Surface Air Supply. The programs are run throughout the year at our training facility at Seadog in Saldanha Bay on the West Coast of South Africa.  Once the divers have qualified, the 14-week Commercial Diver training program is followed by an additional 12-week ‘Work Experience Program’ with collaborative commercial diving partner companies and organisations in various locations across Southern Africa and Internationally.
